Societal and technological determinants of security:Adaptive strategies for information and cyber challenges

International Conference

Security and Defence Quarterly, the Security Education Department of the National Security Faculty at War Studies University, Poland, and Dumlupınar University, Turkey, are pleased to announce the International Conference Societal and technological determinants of security: Adaptive strategies for information and cyber challenges taking place online on 24 May 2024.
Today cyber threats pose a significant risk to national security, military capabilities, societal stability, and international cooperation. This imposes the evolution of traditional security paradigm. No longer does it focus on solely on physical threats, but it has evolved to new approaches that address more complex issues of cyber threats. We welcome original research papers that address topics related to the transition from traditional security models to more comprehensive strategies addressing the complexities of information and cyber threats. We seek a wide range of potential contributions including, but not limited to: analyses of how non-state actors and non-physical threats are reshaping our understanding of security in the digital context, with a particular focus on information infrastructure and data integrity; studies of the multi-dimensional aspects of cybersecurity as a strategic concern; research on the cyber attacks on critical infrastructure, the spread of dis- and misinformation, and the role of technology in military, social and political spheres. We also invite papers that discuss the interconnected nature of modern information systems, the ethical and legal dilemmas posed by cybersecurity measures, and the need for international cooperation in this domain. We welcome to submit empirical studies, theoretical analyses, and case studies that offer insights into the challenges and strategies for managing cybersecurity in various sectors and areas. The Conference will be opened with a keynote speech given by Professor Rubén Arcos from Rey Juan Carlos University, Spain.
