The School of Communication and Media, n.o. (SCM, previously SKAMBA) is a non-profit research organization founded in 2008. Its mission is to provide high-quality in-depth research on politics and communication / media issues, as well as courses, seminars and lectures mainly related to the dissemination of research results. It mainly focuses on the areas of mass media communication and the functions and interactions of the media in a liberal democracy. Over time, and out of necessity, SCM has become the guardian of the ethics of scientific work in communication studies.

SCM has so far been involved in two major FP7 (MEDIADEM, ANTICORRP) and two H2020 international projects (DEMOS, COMPACT) research projects as well as some medium-sized international scientific and educational projects (e.g. EMEDUS, NewMedLit, Deterring fraud related to EU funds through investigative journalism in EU-27, and Hungarian media laws in Europe). SCM has experts who work for the main media in Slovakia. It closely cooperates with the Slovak section of the Association of European Journalists.

Activities are financed from international and local research, educational and awareness grants.

The organizational structure consists of the director, the Board of Advisors and the auditor.
